POWER GAME PAK VOL.2
Welcome to Power Game Pak volume 2. Please be aware that we
have tested all the games on this CD before installing them,
however, not all computer systems are set up the same, so
some programs may not run well on your particular system with
your particular hardware setup. If you DO experience trouble
with any game, consult the following tips before giving up on
the game:
1. NOT ENOUGH MEMORY.
Check your system's free memory with the 'mem' command and run
'memmaker' if necessary to free up more conventional memory. If
you are already over 600k free and the game still requires more
memory, you can squeeze a little more out by diabling your
'smartdrive' in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files.
2. NO EMS MEMORY.
Run the 'memmaker' command and anwser 'yes' to the EMS memory
prompt to enable EMS memory.
3. MISSING FILE/BAD COMMAND.
Try installing the game to your hard drive by copying all the files
into a separate directory on your hard drive. The game may be trying
to save changes to a configuration file, and this will cause an
error as it tries to write to your CD-rom.
4. VIDEO ERRORS.
Many games require 256 color capabilities. so you will need
a video card with 512k or more of memory on the board and set to
the 256 color mode. Consult your video card documentation. Other
unusual video cards may give erratic results on some games.
5. SOUND CARD PROBLEMS.
Many games auto-detect the presence of a sound card and will
hang up if none is found. There's not much you can do if you
don't have one. If the sound card's settings don't match that
of the game, again, try installing the game to your hard drive and
re-configure the settings with the setup command for that game.
6. OTHER EXECUTABLE FILES.
Look in the directory for that particular game and check for other
executable files i.e.,(.exe .com .bat) to see if they might
start the game from within that game's directory in DOS. This helps
on some systems where the startup batch file does not agree with
your particular hardware setup.
7. EXITING TO CMOS.
On some computers a game bug will lock the computer up so
tight that you will have to do a 'reset' to start the computer
agian. At times, after resetting, the computer will end up in the
CMOS (bios) setup screen. To avoid any problems, choose the option
"don't save changes and exit", or something to that effect and just
exit the computer's setup screen.
8. DISABLE TSR's
To avoid possible conflicts, disable any TSR's in your
autoexec.bat or config.sys files. Be sure to first save a
backup copy of these files to avoid losing any data.
9. OTHERS.
Any other problems or anomalies should be referred to the
game company, as shown in the .DOC,.TXT or other help
files from within that directory.
Well, good Luck. We hope you enjoy this action-packed cd!
